Feeding waterfowl such as ducks, geese, swans can create many problems for these birds as well as for the environment and the practice is discouraged by the Massachusettes Audubon Society and the Massachusettes Division of Fisheries and Wildlife.  The notion that waterfowl cannot survive without human intervention is false.  Ducks and geese have survived for thousands of years without handouts and will continue to do so if left alone.
