Lawn Care

The wonderful fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides which make our lawns look so nice also have a powerful effect on Dudley Pond.  Algae will respond to fertilizers the same way as grass - it will grow, grow, grow.

If possible, try to limit your use of lawn care products.  Organic manure, etc. is better, but has basically the same effect of adding additional nutrients to the water which feed weeds and algae.  If you do use lawn care products, try to use as little as possible.   Avoid using the products if rain is predicted, as the rain will wash the chemicals straight off of your lawn and right into the pond.
